Lars Tannell, Executive vice president of the International Financial Corporation, which is an investment affiliate of the WB group, is to arrive on his first official visit to Azerbaijan, said a source from the IFC Baku representation, according to Novosti-Azerbaijan.
According to the representative office, the visit, held in the framework of Lars Tannel's Central-Asian tour and being of acquaintance, envisages meetings in the government of Azerbaijan, with international organizations (donors), as well as IFC partners. The vice president will familiarize with the IFC projects, implemented in cooperation with the Azerbaijani government.
In the framework of the visit, the Azerbaijani government and IFC will sign a memo of understanding, envisioning improvement of the business environment. The document will be signed by Azerbaijan's Minister of Economic Development Heydar Babayev and IFC director Lars Tannell.
It should be noted that IFC is an organization, joining the WB group, which encourages investments to the private sector of developing states, offers support in insuring crop and cattle by small landowners in the developing countries. Azerbaijan has been the IFC member since 1995.
