$2 bln to be spent on reconstruction of Azerbaijan's railroads

APA reports that Azerbaijan’s Deputy Transport Minister Musa Panahov said the main directions of the program is to carry out corporate reforms in the state railroads of Azerbaijan, improve management of railroads, renew infrastructure, improve normative legal base and extend international relations in this sphere. Infrastructural projects document the program.

The projects envisage reconstruction of Azerbaijan’s state railroads in line with modern standards.

"Reconstruction of the railway will increase goods flow, create necessary conditions for passengers, accelerate goods turnover, ensure security and deliver goods to the owners in time. The project of reconstruction of railroads is estimated at about $2bn. The project will be implemented within four years. The project implementation will possibly start early 2009," he said.
