08 July 2008 [10:09] - TODAY.AZ
The first air flight by Baku-Makhachkala route was operated on Monday.
TU-154, landing in the Dagestani capital, was greeted by state officials of this republic.

According to general manager of Jaga tour company Yukrudin Zalimkhanov, the resumption of flights has become possible owing to long-lasting talks between the tour companies Jaga Dagestan and Mikado under support of Airlines Dagestan and Turanair.

The planes will operate flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The cost of a one way ticket by economy class makes about $160.

According to general manager of Airlines Dagestan Mirza Omariyev, the sides agreed to resume flights after bilateral agreements between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Dagestan.

The sides agreed that Makhachkala will sell tickets for flights, operated from Heydar Aliyev's airport to different countries of Asia, America and Europe.

As for the advantages of Baku airport, Omariyev said it is profitable for Dagestanis to transport their goods via Baku, as jet fuel in Azerbaijan is thrice as cheap as in Russia.
