Eyub Huseynov: "Control over quality and safety of agricultural production, sold in Azerbaijan, is on the lowest level"

"We have information that about 35-40% of fruits and vegetables, sold in Azerbaijan, are imported from Turkey.

And as we have observed and by opinion of consumers, who appealed to us, these fruits and vegetables and rich in pesticides, nitrates and nitrites", said chairman of Azerbaijan's Union of Free Consumers Eyub Huseynov.

Moreover, he said many genetically modified agricultural products are sold in Azerbaijan.

"Unfortunately, control of quality and safety of agricultural production in Azerbaijan is on the lowest level. Cases, when agricultural production sellers are not issued any certificates, are not uncommon.

In the result the longevity life-span index in Azerbaijan, previously famous with its long-livers, falls behind the European countries", said Huseynov.
