The United States became Azerbaijan's first partner on export in January of 2008.
The volume of export transactions of Azerbaijan with the United States made up $174,102,870 or 27.8% of export.
According to the press service for the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, the United States are followed by Israel -$115,625,740 (18.47%), Chile -$97,900,600 (15.63%), Ukraine 57,076,120 (9.11%), Russia -$32,050,010 (5.12%), Iran $29,192,600 (4.66%) and Italy $23,995,720 (3.83%).
As is import transactions, Russia is leading with $125,541,890 (25.4% of the whole import). It is followed by Turkey -$43,205,520 (8.74%), Germany $36,476,760 (7.38%), Uktaine $26,952,590 (5.45%), Romania $25m482,680 (5.16%).
In 2007 Turkey was leading with its $1,680,785,840 (14.3% of total commodity turnover) and Russia with %1,529,034,610 (12.99%). Country's main trade partner on export became Turkey with $1,056,322,960 or 17.44% of all export transactions through the reported period and on import Russia with $1,001,982,290 (17.55% of import).
In January of 2006, Azerbaijan's external trade turnover with the CIS countries made up $306,848,800 or 27.4% of the total volume of Azerbaijan's external trade turnover ($1,120,499,400), export to the CIS countries in January $114,656,200 (18.31% of overall export), import $192,192,700 (38.88% of the whole import) and the country had a negative balance of $77,536,500 in the trade with these countries.
Azerbaijan's export to the CIS states includes mineral fuel, oil, oil products and bitumen materials (61.37%), sugar and sugar products (7.16%), vegetables (6.37%), animals and vegetable oil (5.93%), production of inorganic chemistry (4.56%). Ships and other sailing facilities also dominated the import (29,08%), fat and vegetable and animal oil (14.89%), cars and equipment (7.17%), transport means (6.69%),ferrous metals (4.3%).
The countries beyond the CIS accounted for $813,650,600 or 72.6% of external trade turnover of the country. At the same time, export beyond the CIS made up $511,530,300 (81.69% of the whole export), import $30,210,300 (61,12% of the overall import) and the country had $209,410,000 of positive balance in the trade with them.
The export included mineral fuel, oil and oil products, bitumen minerals (94.08%), aluminum and aluminum production (1.85%), polymers and polymer production (1.69%), ferrous metals (0.97%), vegetables (0.3%). Import includes equipment and mechanical facilities (22.2% of the overall import), ships and other sailing facilities (18.78%), ground transport means (15.34%), electric facilities (7.44%).
