Heydar Babayev: "Azerbaijan's demand of cement will rise by 3,000,000 tons in the next 3 years"

15 February 2008 [11:58] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan's Ministry of Economic development forecasts Azerbaijan's demand for cement to rise by 3,000,000 tons from the current 4,000,000 in the next three years.

The due announcement was made by Azerbaijan's Minister of Economic Development Heydar Babayev, during a press conference today.

He said such a rapid growth in the demand for cement is caused by large volume of construction and implementation of new infrastructural projects.

"Several plans on production of cement will start operating in Azerbaijan in the near future, for example, one of them will operate in Qazakh. The talks with Lafarge company for construction of a new plant are also underway. But we can not yet meet the inner demand at expense of inner production", he noted.

It should be noted that in 2005 the volume of concrete sale of Garadagh-Cement, Azerbaijan's largest cement producing plant, made up 1,340,000 tons.
