25 December 2007 [14:54] - TODAY.AZ
A regular session of the Azerbaijan-Japan intergovernmental commission will be held in Tokyo in February of 2008, as reported by Japanese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Masamutsi Oki.

He noted that preparations for the session of the commission have been initiated by diplomatic channels and the date is being defined.

A delegation from Azerbaijan to be led by Abid Sharifov, deputy Prime Minister and co-chairman of the Azerbaijan-Japan intergovernmental commission, will leave for Japan.

"Japan is interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in the non-oil economic sector. I think the forthcoming session will be fruitful and ways of cooperation between the two countries will be determined", Masamutsi Oki noted.

The first session of the Azerbaijan-Japan intergovernmental economic commission was held in Baku last year. It was attended by the governmental commission of Japan, who visited Azerbaijan for the said purpose.

Mr. Yakota, vice-president of the Japanese National oil Corporation Itochu, is a co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission, representing Japan.
