19 December 2007 [11:24] - TODAY.AZ
Oman and Azerbaijan held a round of political consultations on Monday with the Sultanate's side led by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Secretary-General of the Foreign Ministry, and the Azerbaijani delegation by Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Ali Khalafov.
A statement afterwards said the two sides discussed ways to bolster bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on regional and international issues. They underlined the need to support "all initiatives taken to enhance close cooperation, understanding, security and stability of the world."

Also on Monday, Khalafov conferred with Heritage and Culture Minister Sayyid Haitham bin Tareq Al Said and Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry Khalil bin Abdullah Al Khunji.

Talks between Khunji and the visiting minister focused on stepping up ties between private sectors in the two countries. Khalavov said his country was ready to fully support the move and provide necessary facilities to set up joint ventures, especially in the fields of oil, gas, energy, industry, tourism, IT, agriculture and food industries.

The Azerbaijani Minister was also received by Higher Education Minister Dr Rawiyah bin Saud Al Busaidiyah and Tourism Under-Secretary Mohammed bin Hamoud Al Toobi.
