Azerbaijan presents five infrastructural projects at international forum in New York

The first forum on leadership in global infrastructure, recently held in New York (United States), aroused great interest among foreign investors.
The event was attended by nearly 450 representatives of governmental structures and private companies from the United States and other leading countries, as well as nongovernmental and international organizations.

The participants had an opporunity to familiarize with the infrastructural projects of 23 countries, selected on contest basis.

Our country under assistance of the Embassy of Azerbaijan to Washington presented five large-scale infrastructural projects.

These include the reconstruction of the Baku-Beyuk-Kesik section  of the new Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line; construction of a new trade seaport in Baku, establishment of a regional innovation zone for information and communication technologies; construction of Agsuchay water reservoir; rehabilitation of the Upper Shirvan water chanel.

The presentations were organized by the Transport Ministry of Azerbaijan.

According to the adviser to the Embassy, Ashraf Shikhaliyev, the forum drew wide attention, which was also caused by the presentations of Azerbaijan. In a response to numerous requests, the organizers of the forum decided to hold it every year.

The next forum is planned to be held in New-York or London in December of 2008. Notably, the decision on the site of the event will be adopted by means of e-voting.
