A new expert group of the International Atomic Energy Agency is to visit Azerbaijan on December 13, Adil Garibov, head of the Radiation Problems Institute under the Azerbaijan National Academy of Science reported.

According to him, the Agency representatives, who paid a three-day visit to Azerbaijan, have left today.
"The project which will be implemented by the International Agency in Azerbaijan, was discussed by some state agencies. The latest meeting was held in the Azerbaijan National Academy of Science and focused on the development of the project and its coordination with different organizations", he said.
Adil Garibov noted that it is not known when the project would be ratified but there is a plan to implement it in 2008-2009.
Nezavisimaya gazeta (Russia) reads that the International Atomic Energy Agency was allowed to construct the first nuclear reactor in Azerbaijan. According to it, the reactor will be constructed between Baku and Sumgayit under financial support of the Agency. An atomic power plant will be constructed near the Nevai settlement in the fiture.
The soonest opening of the Atomic power plant will be possible if official Baku initiates the project implementation next year.
