Azerbaijan to stop import of strong drinks, minister says

Some low-quality alcoholic beverages are imported to Azerbaijan under the brand of famous high-quality drinks, the country's agriculture minister said.

He added that low-quality drink imports have detected and prevented several times.

"We will stop imports of strong drinks. This move will, at the same time, become strong support for local drink makers," he noted.

He added that alcoholic drinks in 9 million bottle (0.5 liter) equivalent were imported to Azerbaijan during 2006. APA-Economics
