Baku hosts Azerbaijani-German Economy Days

Supported by German-Azerbaijan Economic Development Assistance Union (DAWF), [Deutsch-Aserbaidschanische Wirtschaftsforderverein] Azerbaijan's Economic Development Ministry and Azerbaijan Export and Investment Foundation (AzPromo), a forum titled Azerbaijani-German Economy Days was held in Baku.

German ambassador to Azerbaijan, Per Stankina, said German investors show great interest in Azerbaijan and the mutual meeting will pave the way for prospective cooperation.

Azerbaijan's Industry and Energy Minister, Natig Aliyev, spoke about the fastest growing economy of the country, saying the economy has gained great impetus since 2005 and will double by 2010.

He dwelled on the non-oil sector prioritized by the government and invited German investors to take part in implementation of 2007-2012 State program for Industrial Development.

During 1993-2006, Azerbaijan received an influx of German investment of $165 million, of which 70% came to the non-oil sector.

The business people from the both countries had a bilateral meeting at the end of the event. APA-Economics
