Air cargo transportation more than doubles in Baku Airport

We are studying prospects of expansion of Heydar Aliyev International Airport cargo terminal, Jahangir Asgarov, Director General of Azerbaijan Airlines State Concern (AzAL), told the 2nd Caspian Air Cargo Summit under way in Baku.

There is a need to build the second part of the terminal as the goods flow is increasing, APA reports.

"The terminal is 12,000 sq m. It doesn't meet the demand," he noted.

Jahangir Asgarov added that air cargo transportation increased 2.5 times and the number of passengers rose 1.5 times (year-on-year) during the firtst quarter of 2007. He also noted that a new runway is being constructed at the airport.
