Musa Panahov, Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Transport, told the opening ceremony that the show has brought together about 40 companies from 15 countries.
"Transport sector is one of the fastest growing spheres in Azerbaijan," he said.
He added that the Railway Development Draft Programme has been framed for railway modernization, including rationalizing the track and rolling stock asset base, increasing productivity, setting up a new legal framework and building up management capacity. He added that Azerbaijan will invest around $400 million in investment during the thin year for reconstruction of transport infrastructure.
Iteca Caspian Director Farid Mammadov noted that the main sectors of the exhibition cover automobile transport, maritime transport, air transport, railway transport, intermodal traffic, logistics, delivery, loading-unloading equipment, ports/terminals, warehousing, navigable lines, shipbuilding, expedition of freight, transportation of oil- products, freight insurance, customs services, road-constructing machinery.
The exhibition will go on through May 18, APA reports.
