Israel intends to involve Azerbaijan and Turkey to solution of energy problem

15 May 2007 [09:13] - TODAY.AZ
The experts of Intelligence and Investigation Center under Israeli Foreign Ministry prepared a report on the plans of striking "Al-Qaida" pipelines and oil and gas terminals in the Middle East.

APA reports that though Israel is the main target of "Al-Qaida", as a result of successful activity of intelligence bodies, this net could not commit any terrorism acts in the territory of Jewish state. But exploding oil tankers and gas pipelines is enough to strike Israel.

Israel will import gas from Egypt from the beginning of 2008. Israeli intelligence bodies are especially interested in it. Minister of Infrastructure Binyamin Ben-Eliezer ordered Ministry's specialists to find the way out of Israel’s dependence on foreign energy carriers. One of the possible ways is to buy gas from several sources.

Ben-Eliezer and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert are planning to conclude agreement with British Gas which deals with the production of gas in the Mediterranean Sea. Other projects are the construction of submarine pipeline and deliverance of Azerbaijani gas to Israel.

Ben-Eliezer stated he intends to rise interests in Azerbaijan and Turkey in extension of the Baku-Tbilisi-Arzurum pipeline till Ceyhan and delivery of gas to Israel in tankers or through submarine pipeline.
