Azerbaijan 2008 budget to beat $8 billion

11 May 2007 [13:35] - TODAY.AZ
"Azerbaijan's 2008 budget is likely to beat US $8 billion while it was between $600 million and 700 million a decade ago," Ziyad Samadzade, chair of the parliament standing commission for economic policy, told.

He added that the inflows of incomes and effective tax collection have improved and makes possible to amend the budget blueprint in late May.

"The bulk of the excessive influx will be reoriented to social problems to improve the welfare of the people," he underscored.

Samadzade said the weight of investment expenditures has increased in budget spending.

"Projects are being carried out to improve production and road infrastructure," he stressed.

The 2007 budget foresees revenues of $5.3357 billion and put spending at $5.7147 billion, notable growth from the previous year, APA reports.
