Azerbaijan gets Russia's okay for vessel passage

08 May 2007 [16:33] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan State Shipping Company has received Russian Federal Agency for Sea and River Transport's okay to its request for a vessel passage via Russia's waters from April through November.

ASSC spokesman Vugar Sadigov told APA-Economics that according to the permit document signed Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov, during the navigation season 14 ships of Azerbaijan will have 28 passages limit (14 to and 14 from the Azov Sea) via Volga-Don canal, the only route linking Baku to the outside world through the Caspian.

Russia allotted a 25-entry limit for Azerbaijan in 2006 (14 ships via Volga-Don to the Caspian from the Azov and 11 ships back).
