01 May 2007 [13:16] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan starts to import electricity from Russian. Azerergy, Azerbaijan State Electricity Company, vise-president Marlen Asagarov told that the amount of the electricity will be defined in accordance with needs.

RAO EES will approve the new contract in a few days, APA reports.

Inter RAO EES, a subsidiary of Russia RAO EES (Unified Energy Systems) and Azerenergy, Azerbaijan's State Electricity Company, on April 27 came to agreement on energy import and export. Azerenergy, declined to give details on energy tariffs saying it is commercial secret. Asagarov noted that Azereregy is satisfied with current tariffs.

Azerbaijan and Russia broke off mutual electricity sales relations since April 1 amid a dispute over the prices while they are currently exchanging electricity under a barter contract and the party returns the same amount of energy within 24 hours without any payment. Azerenergy and RAO EES approved document on electricity sales on January 15, 2007.
