Azerbaijan's Transparency Initiatives discussed in Berlin

SOFAZ press service told APA-Economics that Board members stated that Transparency Initiatives have widely spread in the world. The meeting covered discussions on assessment of application of transparency in the countries that joint Transparency Initiative. It was decided to remove the countries, which will not make progress on particular criteria, from the list of EITI counties till the next meeting of the Board in Oslo in September.

Shahmar Movsumov presented Draft Resolution supporting Transparency Initiatives to be submitted to UN General Assembly. Board members discussed the document and highly estimated Azerbaijan's initiative.

Executive director of SOFAZ announced that the Government of Azerbaijan was considering initiating a United Nations resolution to support EITI in the first meeting of Board of EITI in New-York on December 7, 2006.
