Azerbaijan files request with Paris Court against FimBank's appeal

Malta's FimBank appealed against the court decision on lifting the arrest from 500,000 stocks of Azeri Government in the European Telecommunications Satellite Organization (Eutelsat).

Paris Appeals Court will consider the case on May 3, APA reports.

The Court had put arrest on the stocks and dividends of Azerbaijan in 2004 amid a row between Azerbaijan and FimBank. The Court also made a decision in January, 2005 to seize the stocks on the basis of the false documents submitted to the court by FIMBank.

0n November 10, 2006 Paris Higher Instance Court cancelled the decision, and lifted the arrest on the stocks and fined FIMBank EUR 5,000, which was to be paid to the Government of Azerbaijan.
Besides, Fim Bank was to pay EUR 900 for legal expenses suffered by Azerbaijan.

But, FimBank has not fulfilled the decision, claiming the appeal is under way.

Azerbaijani Communications and Information Technologies Ministry Lawyer Bakhtiyar Mamamdov told APA-Economics that Azerbaijan has lodged a request to the Paris Appeals Court to stop the trial fixed on May 3, claiming that FimBank didn't fulfilled the court decision passed on November 10, 2006.

The Court will consider Azerbaijan’s request in the first half of April.
