"Turkey used to import 65 percent of gas from Russia and Iran, and we were dependent on their gas. Now we can buy gas cheaper than before as there some alternatives," Turkey’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler told APA.
Addressing the meeting on construction of gas pipeline to Amasia, Hilmi Guler said that when Justice and Development Party (AKP) came to power only 9 provinces in Turkey used natural gas. But now the number has risen to 44 and will be 60 by the end of the year.
Saying that the Baku-Tbilisi–Ceyhan pipeline exports 1 million barrels of Caspian oil every day, Turkey Energy Minister emphasized that activities are being implemented to increase this export.
