Russian markets abandon

16 January 2007 [16:16] - TODAY.AZ
New law on migration may cause increase of prices in Russia, consider the officers of Federal Migration Service.

The officers registered no migrant during the raid on local markets. The inspector of Federal Migration Service Migration Control department Andrey Vajenin stated that they didn't expect such result.

"I think that the leadership of markets removed the sellers to be on the safe side," he said.

Similar events are observed in other cities as well. The market in Sportivnaya Street, Vladivostok, has become deserted. Drujba market in Ussuriysk has been closed. Markets in Nijni Novgorod, Tver, Krasnoyarsk, Krasnodar, Murmansk and St. Petersburg have also become emptier.

According to the new law on migration, the number of foreign citizens working in markets shouldn't exceed 40 percent.

From April 1, only Russians are allowed to work in the markets. The owners will be punished 230-800 thousand rubles in case of violence. APA
