23.008bn KW/h electricity generated in Azerbaijan in 2006

Electricity production rose 1.5bn kilowatts/h, year-over-year, to 23.008 billion in 2006.

Azerenergy press service told APA that hydroelectric power stations generated 2.5 bn kilowatts and thermal power stations 21.3bn kilowatts.

Besides, Azerbaijan continued to exchange electricity with Russia, Iran and Turkey in this period.

Azerbaijan imported 0.7 billion kilowatts of electrical energy from Russia, 0.6bn kilowatts from Iran, 0.3bn kilowatts from Turkey and 0.05bn kilowatts from Georgia.
