French Lafarge to build cement plant in Azerbaijan

Lafarge, the largest French cement manufacturer, intends to build a cement plant in Azerbaijan.

The issue will also be discussed at the fourth meeting of Azerbaijan-France intergovernmental commission to be held in Paris on January 9, 2007.

Azerbaijan's annual need for cement was over 2.6 million tons in 2006, of which 50% was supplied by Garadagh Cement.

The rest of the demand was covered by local producers like Azbentonit, AND, Mineral, Khirdalan, Altay-A and Russian and Georgian imports. APA
