Azerfon President: "Azerfon to vigorously compete with other operators"

"Azerfon has its own price policy, but it's highly sensitive point because of commercial rules. I dare say that our prices will compete in the market," new GSM operator Azerfon President John Armley said.

He said that Azerfon's customers will be able to make payment by various means – by Nar card, ATM, cash and via internet.

The establishment of the network and infrastructure will cost $300m.

He said the installation process is planned to be completed in February, 2007.

AZERFON LLC was granted a license by Ministry of Communication and Information Technology of Azerbaijan Republic dated 28.12.2005 for the provision of GSM mobile communications services in 900/1800 MHz band throughout the territory of Azerbaijan.

Azerfon's stockholders are Aztelecom (10%), Siemens (30%), British ERSTEL Azerbaijan Ltd (30%) and CELLEX Communication (30%). APA
