Georgia starts importing Azeri power

Georgia will start importing Azerbaijani electricity supplies from December 23.

Georgian Electricity System Commercial Operator Director General Bidzina Chkoniya told APA bureau that Georgia would import electricity from Azerbaijan from Dec. 23 through Jan. 15 as per the energy exchange deal between Azerenergy and the ESCO.

Azerbaijan will export 1.9m kilowatts of electricity to Georgia a day. In peak hours 150 megawatts of electrical power will be exported to Georgia.

Georgia will compensate for the amount of electricity in summer, by transferring the same amount to Azerbaijan.
