Azercell Telecom celebrates ten years

Azerbaijan's largest mobile operator Azercell Telecom organized a meeting on occasion of its ten-year activities.

The event was attended by government officials, and representatives of embassies and other organization.

Azerbaijani Communications and Information Technologies Minister Ali Abbasov said that Azercell grew very fast during this period, playing the leading part in the cellular market in Azerbaijan.

Azercell First General Manager Erdal Durukan said that it invested USD 523m in Azerbaijan and paid taxes worth $300m.

Today, apart from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, Azercell network covers 78.4% of Republic's territory. Azercell has to date installed some 1030 base stations, which helps subscribers who lives in the regions to establish reliable communication. Azercell has roaming agreements with 308 mobile operators of 135 countries, he said.

Economic Development Minister Heydar Babayev said that he is a subscriber to Azercell and he is satisfied with its services.

Azercell general Manager Halim Atesh thanked the participants and promised that Azercell will continue to provide trusted cellular services, APA reports.
