Huseyn Arabul: "Government won't pay debt to Barmek"

20 December 2006 [20:26] - TODAY.AZ
"Economic Development Ministry tries to delay the conclusion of the final agreement with Barmek as long as possible. We have already requested the Ministry to hurry," said Barmek-Azerbaijan President Huseyn Arabul.

"The Government are to pay AZN 113 million, for accounts receivable and accounts payable, and AZN 40 million, for assets, to Barmek after the final agreement is signed. That’s why they delay to evade paying the debts," he told APA.

He said that Ernst&Young has not concluded the audit of Barmek yet. He added that Azerbaijan has to choose the judge at the International Center for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) by January 16.

After the ICSID chooses the third judge, a final judgement will be made within a month.
