Baku hosts Azerbaijani and Russian energy officials

Azerenergy and RAO EES (Unified Energy Systems) have met in Baku to discuss the issue concerning energy supplies to Azerbaijan, Azerenergy Vice-President Marlen Asgarov said.

He said the amount and price of gas supplies Azerbaijan is going to import in 2007 were discussed.

Te parties agreed to make a pause for the study of proposals and to hold the next meeting in Baku too.

Azerbaijan intends to import electricity of 700m kilowatts from Russia in 2007.

At present Russia charges Azerbaijan 3.6 cents for per kilowatts of electricity, supplying 300 megawatts in peak consumption period, but ROA EES warned Azerbaijan that it would provide 60 megawatts by 4.6 cents per kilowatt.

In 2005 Azerbaijan imported 1.003bn kilowatts of Russian electricity at the price of 2.8 cents per kilowatt, APA reports.
