Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey to discuss security of pipelines

"The representatives of the organizations realizing the security of oil and gas pipelines among Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey will meet in Ankara soon. The date of the meeting is being determined at the moment," chairman of the State Special Guard Service colonel-general Vagif Akhundov, told journalists.

He said there is a special organization composed of the representatives of government and law enforcement bodies of the three countries coordinating the security of pipelines.

"There are special state commissions and working groups. The meeting concerning the security of the pipelines was last held in Baku 3-4 months ago. On the other side the organizations responsible for the security regularly organize trainings," he said.

Vagif Akhundov said that Turkish Interior Ministry will be charged with the protection of the Turkish part of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline. He said that BOTASH Company has already signed a special contract with Interior Ministry.

The protection of the pipelines in Turkey is realized by Gendarme Forces at the moment, APA reports.
