Houses near oil wells to be demolished

SOCAR plans to improve the oil-polluted territories in Absheron peninsula within a few years, Company President Rovnag Abdullayev said.

"We have devised a program for purification of the oil-polluted lands, and set up an emergency ecological department. We declared 2007 a year of ecology in SOCAR," he said.

He said that they will remove people who bought lands in the territory of the Company, APA reports.

"All houses illegally built near oil mines and wells will be demolished. No damages will be paid. They built these houses illegally and they have no legal documents," he underscored.
