Economic Development Ministry, University of Louisiana ink memo

On November 10, Economic Development Ministry and US University of Louisiana signed an agreement on the development of the food industry.

Deputy Minister said much works is being to enlighten local consumers in Azerbaijan, apply quality systems in the production and experience of international organizations. Azerbaijan cooperates with international organizations to ensure quality and safety of the foodstuff.

Director of international programs department of the Louisiana University's Agrocenter Lakshman Velupillay said that signing of the document is very important issue. According to him, the main goal is to develop food industry in the Central America, South Africa, Eurasia and CIS regions, raise awareness of safe foods and biosecurity. With these actions taken, the country's export potential will be increased, and consumers will be provided with safe foodstuff.

The document was signed by Khalig Mammadov, director of the consumer goods examination center and Lakshman Velupillay. AzerTAg
