10 November 2006 [17:05] - TODAY.AZ
Business forum, organized by Pakistan's Embassy in Baku and Azerbaijan National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (ACE), was attended by 15 Azerbaijani and some 30 Pakistani pharmacy businessmen.

Pakistani Ambassador to Azerbaijan Javid Gureyshi said relations between the two countries are developing rapidly ands business forums play a great part in increasing trade turnover and improving investment climate.

ACE President Alakbar Mammadov said trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Pakistan made up $1.7m this year and this figure is very small.

"Azerbaijan exported goods of $600 000 to Pakistan and imported goods of 1.1m. The import includes medicines, leather goods, foodstuffs, rice and other goods. The trade turnover doesn't use the existing potential, we think," he said.

Pakistani delegation head Sarfraz Ahmed said Pakistan specialized in medicines in the world, which makes up $80m of $16bn annual trade turnover of Pakistan.

Other issues of mutual concern were also discussed at the event, APA reports.
