Babayev meets Polish Speaker

Azerbaijan's Minister of Economic Development Heydar Babayev today met with visiting Chairman of the Polish Senate Bogdan Borusewicz and his accompanying delegation.

Babayev spoke of the economic progress Azerbaijan had reached for the last years.

The Minister added the talks held and documents signed during President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Poland in 2005 laid foundation for enhancement of the bilateral ties.

Heydar Babayev said trade between Azerbaijan and Poland increased during the first eight months of this year, compared with the same period of 2005.

The Azeri Minister noted development of the non-oil sector is one of the major priorities for his country.

Babayev said opening of the Polish national exhibition in Baku would contribute to further enhancement of the bilateral economic cooperation between his country and Poland.

The Polish Speaker, for his part, said his country attaches great importance to economic relations with Azerbaijan.

Bogdan Borusewicz described Azerbaijan as one of the region's leading countries.

He stressed the importance of inauguration of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main oil export pipeline to the region.

Borusewicz said he will further continue his efforts towards enhancement of the bilateral economic relations between Poland and Azerbaijan. AzerTAg
