Baku Metro sells over 80 000 smart cards

Those having VISA cards of Azerbaijan International Bank will be able to travel by Baku subway without tokens or chip cards.

IBA and Baku Metro signed an agreement which entitles cardholders to load entry units to their card. IBA has 25 000 VISA cardholders currently.

Isayev also said that over 80 000 chip cards were sold and these cards allow passengers to load 1-200 entry units to their account.

Baku Metro will stop use of tokens from next year and install chip card reader turnstiles in all stations, APA reports.
