Israel's Tadiran Communications wins $42m military order from Azerbaijan

The order is the final part of an earlier $55 million order for the supply of tactical communications equipment.

Tadiran Communications, announced that it won a $42.4 million order.

The order represents the final stage in a deal for the supply of tactical communications equipment to the country, whose identity Tadiran did not disclose. However, sources inform "Globes" that the country in question is Azerbaijan, which has recently carried out a major upgrade of its armed forces.

The order is the final part of a $55 million order for the supply of HF and VHF radio equipment, which Tadiran won back in December. Having completed the first stages of the contract to the customer's satisfaction, Tadiran management was notified today that it has now been given the green light to supply the larger part of the contract, which will be delivered by the end of 2007.

Tadiran Communications VP marketing Amos Weizman said, "The completion of this deal has strengthened our position in the global market and increased our orders backlog for 2006." He indicated that the company believed that further orders from this customer would be in the offing, as the process of modernizing its army progresses.
