Azerbaijan, Georgia: trade turnover increases

Chairman of the State Customs Committee Aydin Aliyev met with the minister of economic development of Georgia Irakly Chogovadze.

Aydin Aliyev spoke of the current state of the Azeri-Georgia relations, highly assessing existent level of political, economic, cultural ties between two friendly countries.

The Chairman of SCC said that thanks to the nationwide leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, the relations between two countries have strengthened and President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues this policy. Aydin Aliyev especially noted the role of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan MEP to bring the fraternal peoples closer. Aydin Aliyev reminded the large-scale projects being realized in region thanks to the efforts of the Presidents of both countries.

As to the trade-economic ties, Aydin Aliyev noted that the data of latest years show the rise of trade turnover between the countries, and stressed the necessity of increasing it in the years coming.

Touching upon the customs links between relevant structures of both countries, the SCC Chairman spoke of positive results of the reforms conducted in both republics, emphasizing that the customs bodies also have certain tasks in development of these relations.

Irakly Chogovadze expressed pleasure for his visit to Azerbaijan, noting all-round development in country. The guest spoke of the existent friendly relations coming from the friendly traditions, the developing tendencies of expanding cooperation.

At the meeting, attended by the ambassador of Georgia to Azerbaijan Zurab Gumberidze, the sides have focused on transport questions, the prospects of cooperation. AzerTAg
