12th International telecommunication and information technologies-2006 exhibition opened in Baku

The 12th International telecommunication and information technologies-2006 exhibition has been opened in the Azerbaijani capital Baku.

President Ilham Aliyev also attended the exhibition, APA reports.

Telecommunication and Information Technologies Minister Ali Abbasov said the 12th exhibition in Azerbaijan has brought together over 500 specialists from 110 companies of 23 countries.

Head of state Ilham Aliyev addressing the opening said that a National Program on Information Communication Technologies is being prepared.

"The main duty now is to bring modern technology to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is developing thoroughly. We intend to invest in information communication technologies. This will promote development of education. On the other hand, information communication technologies is a beneficial business sphere. It has a special weight in the country. As a President, I attach great importance in this field," the head of state said.

President Aliyev also said there is a favorable environment for investing in the country adding that Azerbaijan is the leader in the region for the volume of foreign capital invested in its economy.

The President also noted that the government ensures all opportunities for the development of information communication technologies.
