Ban on black caviar and Caspian sturgeon exports to be lifted

2The ban on black caviar and Caspian sturgeon exports of Azerbaijan may be lifted at the meeting of the permanent secretariat of CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.).

Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry press service told APA that the meeting will also review the black caviar and Caspian sturgeon quota of Russia, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.

CITES imposed a ban on export in order to prevent extinction of Caspian sturgeon but allowed Iran to export 45 tonnes of sturgeon caviar a year.
