Tariff Council chairman Heydar Babayev said the issue is being discussed.
"We discuss the issue to set fares according to distance. We have set fare for Baku and to districts. Concrete decision will be made by this week's end," he said.
He said the companies have already decided to import new buses and to provide better service because they know that companies offering high-quality transportation will be preferred.
The possible rise of fares will also aim at the improvement of transportation.
He said that issues on metro fare were also discussed and it is not planned to change it, APA reports.
