Electricity of Lenkeran likely to be cut off

23 September 2006 [11:28] - TODAY.AZ
"Electricity supply to Lenkeran may be cut off unless any improvement is made in collection of bills," said Lenkeran Electricity Supply Department Director Gilman Rzayev.

He told APA's bureau in Southern regions that Azerenergy has already warned them of the possible cut-off. The issue was also discussed at a meeting held at the Lenkeran Mayor's Office on Friday.

Mayor Suleyman Mikayilov instructed to cut off electricity of those who haven't paid bills.

"Both the President and Azerenergy require us to collect electricity bills by 100 percent. If not, Lenkeran will be left without electricity," he said.

He instructed all relevant bodies to do the best to collect the bills. He also called on well-off people to help poor residents pay the bills.

Lenkeran has consumed 12mn kilowatt/h of electricity. But, only bills of AZN 46 501 were collected from the population and this figure constitutes 16.1 percent of the electricity bills.
