U.S. Department of State and Azerbaijani MCIT conclude preliminary MOU

Preliminary Memorandum of Understanding was signed between U.S. Department of State and Azerbaijani Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies (MCIT).

The official signing ceremony will be on October 3-6 in Baku in the frames of the 12th International Telecommunication and Information Technologies exhibition & conference.

David A. Gross, U.S. Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy said Azerbaijan and US have been cooperating in communication sphere for several years. He mentioned the necessity of memorandum for both states.

Azerbaijani Minister Ali Abbasov said the memorandum has great significance in terms of the US investments in Azerbaijani economy.

"Creation of Azerbaijani technological zones is difficult without US capital. US companies intend to invest big capitals to this sphere in Azerbaijan," he said.

The Minister also said the US companies want official documents to be signed before making investments. They want to be sure of strong guarantee of their investments, APA reports.

The memorandum envisages strengthening education on information technology and normalizing rivalry in telecommunication market and etc.
