Azeri ship grounded in Asov Sea

10 September 2006 [13:43] - TODAY.AZ
Workers in the Krasnodar territory used a dredger to try to free a second ship that ran aground in Russia's Sea of Asov in as many days.

The ship was pressed against a sea wall, a duty controller from Yeisk told Itar-Tass. Workers began using the dredger Saturday morning.

'Fizuli', carrying a cargo of 3,500 tons of oilcake, was traveling from Yeisk to Azerbaijan along a sea-and-river route, the news agency reported.

The Fizulli is the second boat to run aground in the Sea of Azov in less than two days. Earlier, a barge carrying a consignment of oil products ran aground off the Krasnodar territory shores, where a rescue operation was under way. UPI
