09 August 2006 [14:08] - TODAY.AZ
"The task force set up by the Economic Development Ministry has already completed examination in Barmek. But we are unaware of the results," Barmek President Huseyn Arabul told.

He said that setting up the inspection commission was a wrong step because the agreement was unilaterally canceled by the Government, APA reports.

"It would be better to create a handover commission. At the meeting held on August 3 it as decided that a handover commission should be set up at once and Ernst&Yung Audit Company should be invited. Barmek and Ernst&Yung audit signed an agreement on August 4. We were accused of having brought secondhand transformers from foreign country and of not having made enough investment. The audit company will investigate the problem. We have to date made investment of $76mn. Of which, $17mn is capital cost amortization and $59mn is investment whereas we had to make investment of $51mn only."

He said that Barmek paid taxes of $26mn during the six-month period of this year. The State supreme bodies owe AZN 103mn to Barmek and Barmek owes AZN 92mn to Azerenergy.

Barmek president said that he has already sued Azerenergy president Etibar Pirverdiyev and he will be insistent on the issue.

He said that the investment he has made should be reimbursed.
"I intend to continue my activities in Turkey. I will leave Turkey only for selling out products."

He said that he has compiled a list of Azerbaijani senior officials who owes Barmek and promised that he will give the list to journalists when leaving Azerbaijan.

"Today Barmek has a lot of problems. Our goods are delayed at the border too. Although the president gave an instruction on provision of all apartments with electricity meters by his year end, our 80 000 electricity meters and laboratory were seized. I therefore appealed to International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID)."

He said that he will not leave Azerbaijan if the arrested Barmek senior officials are not released.
