RusAl studies Azerbaijan

Russian Aluminum, the world's third-largest aluminum producer, will complete a feasibility study into the possible construction of a smelter in Azerbaijan by the end of the year, a company spokeswoman said Tuesday.

Azerbaijan's Economic Development Minister, Haydar Babayev, had earlier told reporters the Russian company had decided to build the plant.

"At the end of last week we received an official letter from RusAl about their decision to start a project to build an aluminum plant in Azerbaijan," Babayev said, without giving further details, Reuters reports.
