Turkey will take part in development of Azeri non-oil sector

A protocol on the results of the meeting Azerbaijani-Turkish intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation was signed on Friday.

A protocol was signed by the commission's Azerbaijani and Turkish co-chair vice-Prime Minister Abid Sharifov and Turkish state minister Mehmet Aydin, APA informs.

At a press conference Mr. Sharifov said that issues on expansion of relations between the two countries, Baku-Tbilisi-Akhalkalak-Kars railway project, cooperation in energy, transport, customs, and repayment of Azerbaijan's debts were discussed during the meeting.

"Over 6 000 Turkish specialists work in Azerbaijan now. But there are a few Azerbaijani companies operating in Turkey. However, we discussed the issue of attraction of Turkish companies to huge projects in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan offered Turkey a quota of 3000 cargo truck, but only some trucks go to Turkey from Azerbaijan."

Mr. Aydin said that cooperation in miscellaneous spheres of economy is discussed at the meeting.

"We discussed all issue we had set. Turkey will take active part in development of non-oil sector in Azerbaijan. We also deliberated upon establishment of Turkish-Azerbaijani Trade House."
