He said that a reduction of exports in agricultural sectors of the economy has been observed in this period.
"In the first five months of the year, the country carried out trade transactions with 117 countries. The foreign trade turnover grew 46.4% to reach $4.138bn, with $2.472bn made up by exports and the remaining $1.666 bn by imports," the official said.
Azerbaijan's chief banker Elman Rustamov said earlier that the state will do its best to keep inflation at single digits in 2006. But the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development experts predicted a figure of 13%, explaining this by the rising budget spending and the considerable inflow of oil revenues to the country expected this year.
The inflation made up 9.6% in 2005.
