21 June 2006 [09:01] - TODAY.AZ
"Today ANS Group of Companies operates illegaly. Because, Milly Majlis television and Radio Council refuses to give a license to ANS. We can not get license since 2003. It is already 3 years that we have been waiting to get our license."

ANS Media and Broadcast Company president Vahid Mustafayev has told it in the measure of Yeni Azerbaijan Party on the subject "Press and Society".

According to APA, Vahid Mustafayev said that tele-radio Council announced to look into the matter, but the issue has not been reviewed. "A few days ago Nushiraevan Maharramli making statement said that not any company will be given a license in the summer. That means ANS will have to get a license in the autumn."

National Tele-radio broadcast Council chairman Nushiravan Maharramli has told journalists in his statement that all the documentation in Azerbaijan tele-radio is carried within legal norms.

He said that in the next meeting of the National tele-radio Council the issue of increasing license term of Lider and ANS TV channels will be looked into. He added that 90 percent of TV channels have been given licenses. Only ANS, Lider, Aygun TV, Lenkeran Khachmaz TV and Europe plus radio stations licenses have remained without license. These will be regularly settled.

Not any channels has been closed so far, or any serious sanction was imposed.
