Railroad traffic between Azerbaijan, Georgia available again

06 June 2006 [22:22] - TODAY.AZ
Railroad traffic between Azerbaijan and Georgia, interrupted on Monday as 15 of 34 tanks carrying fuel oil had come off the rail, was restored on Tuesday.

Azerbaijani First Deputy Transport Minister Musa Panakhov told Itar-Tass the accident happened near the Mugan railroad station, 130 kilometers away Baku, at about 2:00 p.m. Moscow time. "The rail was too hot and the track widened," he said. "The accident has been cleaned up, and the traffic of freight and passenger trains between Baku and Tbilisi has resumed."

The spilled fuel oil is being collected under the supervision of environmental services, the official said.
