Ministry of Economic Development monitored 16 shops importing and selling cellular phones

The Anti-Monopoly Policy Department of the Ministry of Economic Development monitored 16 retail and wholesale shops importing and selling cellular phones.

As APA informs, the monitoring revealed absence of some accompanying documents, certificates of standards and warranty cards in various cellular phone shops. It was also revealed that separate physical persons sell cellular phones and their accessories imported from UAE, China and other countries without warranty, software of blocked phones is intervened, and phones are unblocked and sold.

Original batteries, charging units and keypads of imported cellular phones are replaced with other cheaper accessories which are not original.

Besides, prices are not fixed on products in shops, in some shops prices are indicated in US dollars, information about the manufacturer country is not delivered to consumers properly.

Some warranty cards are prepared in foreign language and contradicts with law "On protection of consumers' rights" and requirements of the Civil Code. The monitoring revealed that official distributors and dealers do not provide certificated warranted technical services to sold cellular phones and accessories and in some shops such services did not exists at all.

Administrative punishment measures were taken concerning law breaches revealed by the monitoring. The monitoring of the cellular phones and accessories market is being continued.
